The Hotel “New Star Khiva” is located in Dishan Qala (“outside” fortress of Khiva), which is just a few meters away from Ichan Qala (Walls) and occupies a building of former madrasa of Muhammad Maxram with its minaret, which was built in 1903. It was erected by one of the most influential officials and advisers of Muhammad Rahim Khan II.
Except for other outstanding amenities and services offered here, the hotel stands out in the city with its water filtration system and underfloor heating systems installed beneath the hotel room floors in order for our guests to keep warm during their stay throughout the year.

Очень интересный отель, бывшее медресе. Все чисто, шелковисто и тихо. Приветливый персонал, хороший завтрак. До старинного города рукой подать, рядом банкомат с обменом денег. Ну и цена, просто, благотворительность.
This re-purposed medressa near the west gate of the old city is absolutely full of atmosphere. Sparkling new refit, centuries old giant roof beams and attentive round-the-clock staff who can organize anything you need with a smile. Do not neglect to climb to the top of the hotel minaret at night or sunset! Take time to lounge in the courtyard loggia / verandah. Rooms have domed roves and our family-room was the converted mosque. The staff organised transport to and from Urgench that saved having to haggle with tourist savvy taxi touts (it nearly halved the price that of the best bargain I could get). Breakfast was a broad range of high quality choices and everyone found something they liked. This was really a great place to stay and at this price I think it would be hard to beat.
